Welcome to Walsall
Dear Applicant
Thank you for showing an interest in the vacancy for the post of Chief Executive at Walsall Council.
This is a crucial appointment and represents an opportunity for the successful candidate to work with Elected Members, our staff and our partners to take Walsall forward to being the four star Council that we aim to be.
Just five years ago, Audit Commission inspectors refused to give Walsall a rating under the CPA inspection scheme, but, such is the extent of progress continuing to be made, the Council is now rated as a three-star authority and we are working hard to offer excellent services and achieve four-star status.
Of course progress comes at a price. We have many challenges ahead both immediate and longer term. We will need a strong and skilled Chief Executive who can decisively lead and manage the organisation through these challenges.
Walsall is an ambitious Borough. We have ambitious programmes to transform our ways of working and delivering services. We have ambitious plans to regenerate the borough. We have achieved a great deal over the last five years but we are not complacent and we have ambitions to achieve 4 star status and become a truly excellent Council serving our diverse communities.
The building blocks are in place. We have drive, enthusiasm and talent. All we need now is to get the best Chief Executive to work with us to realise our ambitions
