Performance Management
The City Council operates a system of Performance
Management for all JNC employees, i.e. Chief Executive, Chief
Officers and Assistant Chief Officers, which includes these jobs.
The Performance Management process sets clear targets, reviews outcomes and provides development opportunities on an annual basis.
Political Restriction
Under the terms of the Local Government and Housing Act
1989, these jobs are defined as specified posts and the job
holders will therefore be restricted from certain political activities
described in the Act. Further details can be provided to
candidates invited for interview.
Annual Leave

years’ continuous service, 30 days after ten years and 31 after
twenty years. This is in addition to 12 days’ public holidays.
Hours of Work
There are no fixed hours of work and the post-holders will be
required to work such hours as are reasonably necessary to
meet the requirements of the posts (including evenings,
weekends and public holidays).
Relocation
Where it is agreed that a house move is necessary, a relocation
allowance of up to £15,000 is available. This is dependent upon a
move to within the boundary of Birmingham City Council. Full terms
will be available to candidates invited for interview.
No Smoking Policy
The Council has a No Smoking Policy in all Council
establishments, except for certain designated areas.
Equal Opportunities
The City Council is an Equal Opportunities employer and is
committed to promoting equal opportunities in employment
regardless of gender, sexuality, marital status, creed, colour, race
or ethnic origins. This principle applies in respect of recruitment,
training, pay and conditions of employment, allocation of work
and promotion.
The above is for information only and the precise details of the terms of appointment will be made available to those shortlisted candidates invited for interview.
