Terms and Conditions of Employment

The contract is permanent and the post is not available for Job Share.

The salary is c. £65,000 for a 37-hour week and the salary is subject to inflationary pay increases applied to Police Authority support staff in September each year.

The post holder will have an annual leave entitlement of 30 days plus Statutory Bank Holidays afforded to Police Authority support staff within an annual leave year which starts on 1 April.

The post holder will be based at the Police Authority Secretariat (currently located in Kingston upon Hull) or at such other location within the Humberside Police Force area as may from time to time be agreed by the Authority.

The post holder will be expected to attend conferences and meetings outside the Force area.

The post is subject to the satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period.

The post holder will be excluded from the provisions of Section 15(2) of The Police Act 1996 and will be under direction and control of the Police Authority. Personal Terms of Employment will be subject to determination by the Chief Executive in conjunction with a committee of the Authority with the full Authority being the mechanism for final appeals.

The notice period that must be given by the post holder and the Police Authority is three months.

The post holder shall at all times hold a valid driving licence and the post will be subject to the payment of a casual user rate for official business mileage.

The post holder’s entitlement to sickness payments, maternity leave/payment, family leave and time off for dependent leave is subject to the provisions of relevant employment legislation and the national and local conditions of service of the Police Authority’s support staff.

The post holder may have the option of joining the Local Government Pension Scheme.

The Authority is fully in favour of Trade Union membership and accordingly details will be supplied about you to the appropriate Trade Union in order that they can contact you to invite you to become a member.

The payment of Removal and Disturbance expenses may be made at the discretion of the Chief Executive.

All other terms of employment are subject to the Scheme of Conditions of Service as determined by the Police Support Staff Council supplemented by the local scheme of conditions of service for police support staff and as amended from time to time.

The post of Director will be a politically restricted post under the provision of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
In accepting this appointment you will be subject to the rules and regulations of the Police Authority. Full details will be provided within the offer of employment.
