About the Role
This influential role sits right at the heart of the Secretariat’s support function to the Police Authority and is key to the organisation’s purpose. Working closely with Members, officer input can be pivotal to the decision making processes. This is a job for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in to some complex issues. On occasions, you may need the determination to tackle some challenging issues with some of the Force’s highest ranking officers on the Authority’s behalf.
Humberside Police Authority has a national profile and many challenges to face. This is a job where your actions will make a real difference to local policing, local governance and decision making.
You will be directly responsible for the effective support of the Authority’s broad governance function, and will also provide direct support to the Chief Executive.
You will manage the delivery of efficient and effective all-round support to the Authority’s members and to its various committees. Allied to this will be the provision and co-ordination of appropriate member training.
You will also be responsible for ensuring that the Authority’s committee decisions and any matters arising from audit are implemented and turned into actions. Ensuring that the Authority’s statutory duties are properly discharged also falls within the remit.
This broad and exciting role has additional research and policy development functions along with responsibility for the co-ordination of appeals, hearings and tribunals. The Authority is responsible for the recruitment and appointment of new members and of the Force’s chief officers for overseeing and progressing these processes.
Office services, premises maintenance, health & safety and staff performance within the secretariat complete the wide-ranging portfolio.
