Welcome
Dear applicant
The West of England is one of the most attractive and prosperous parts of the country, with four universities, a buoyant private sector and a growing local economy.
Substantial future growth is planned, with over 100,000 additional houses in the pipeline over the next 20 years and a similar number of new jobs, supported by high levels of investment in new infrastructure.
The four local authorities which form the West of England have a good track record of working successfully together. For example:
- The Joint Local Transport Plan has led to the award of a significant share of the Regional Funding Allocation for major transport schemes.
- Joint working has been successful in making a coherent sub regional case regarding the draft Regional Spatial Strategy at the recent Examination in Public.
- Creation of the West of England Partnership Office with 14 staff dealing with transport planning, inward investment, economic development and policy and intelligence. The Partnership has its own identity, office and legal status.
There is already a strong partnership tackling waste, covering two separate but related work streams – planning and strategy/procurement. The planning team is in the process of being established. Politically all parties are committed to see joint working on waste succeed.
I do hope you will decide that this is an opportunity not to miss and that you will make an application. We look forward to hearing from you.
